"Elim. Geschw. Schaberg Br. Reichel u. Gericke v. d. Besuchshaus." ("Elim. Brethren Schaberg Br[other] Reichel a[nd] Gericke i[n] [front] [of] t[he] guest house."). The picture shows three men and one woman of European origin standing in front of a house which is surrounded by a fence. Two of the men turn their faces towards the camera. The other man and the woman are seen from the back. In front of the house on the right side three trees and one tree next to the group on the left side. Near the house on the left side an African woman probably washing something in a bucket. To the far left another building with stairs leading to it. On the far right a big white stone in the middle of the road. Trees and houses in the background. Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930."). Willibald Paul Schaberg (1900-?) was a missionary in South Africa West from 1929 to 1939 and again from 1948 onwards. It is not known when he stopped working or died. -- Gustav Theodor Reichel (1879-?) was a missionary in West Himalaya from 1908 to 1922 and then in South Africa West from 1923 to 1934. -- Friedrich Wilhelm Gericke (1868-1944) was a missionary in Labrador from 1896 to 1907 and in South Africa (Genadendal, Elim and Enon) from 1909 to 1935. -- The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
