Description
Photographic portrait of Dr. Millikan and Dr. Cameron applying the lead sheild to an early form of electroscope, December 1930. At left, a man in a striped suit applies is visible fitting a shell to what appears to be a telescope eyepiece, while at right, a second man holds a second eyepiece. A number of electric boxes are connected in a chain on the table in front of them, leading to the first eyepiece at left. Writing on the photo identifies the lead shield as used for shutting out rays which would interfere with the observation of the comic ray.
