Description
Note: " ... von der Seite ..." (E-30-0,4). - "Königstochter Lydia Ndamboked Brustbild v.d. Seite. (Wuhrmann, A., 1917. Beschreibung zu den Lichtbildern aus Bamum. E-30-0,6).
Note translation: " ... seen in profile..." (E-30-0,4). - The King s daughter Lydia Nodamboked, head and shoulders taken from the side. Ndamboken (lit: Beautiful House ) is younger than Manuore. This young princess is very conscious of her high rank, carries her head high, adopts an erect posture, and knows how to decorate herself in a quite royal way for the festivals which are celebrated here. Her two-part hair arrangement is magnificent. The beads of oil sparkle in the curly hair, caught like pearls in the little rings of hair. Great silver coins jingle on her slim neck. You can see from their image and superscription that they are Maria Theresa Thalers. The question comes up in the minds of us foreigners how these old coins found their way into the Cameroonina Grassfields (A. Wuhrmann, 1917, Commentaries to Slides from Bamum, E-30-0,6. K 351).
