Shown leaving Long Beach Harbor, this aerial image taken from over the ocean shows tugboats escorting the SL-7 container ship of Sea-Land Service, Incorporated. It was one of the largest container ships in transpacific service, with a speed of 33 knots. It was 74 feet shorter than the Queen Mary and carried 1096 containers, each being 35" x 40" in size. Downtown Long Beach high rises and portions of the harbor are visible in the background. The Queen Mary is visible in the central background, just in front of Grissom oil island.
