Description
The largest wholesale purchase of U.S. Defense Postal Savings Stamps took place in New York City when William F. Humphrey (center), President of Tide Water Associated Oil Company, handed the company's check to Postmaster Albert M. Goldman in exchange for 10,019 one dollar stamps as B.I. Graves, Vice President of the company in New York, looked on approvingly. Distribution of a Postal Savings Stamp Album with the first one dollar stamp paid for and affixed thereto is being made to each Associated employee from coast to coast as the first step in a program designed to aid the National Defense Program.
