Description
"Coming closer to hand, we next see the Hospital and it's work. It was opened on Jany. 1st. 1908 and four years work has seen great things. Few patients came at first no lad would help in the work, hard superstition had to be fought, and prejudice overcome. Bit by bit the fight had been won, and to-day the Hospital is assured of success. There is increasing confidence among the people, the Hospital is never empty, both men and women, many coming long distances to avail themselves of it's treatment, and enjoy the loving attention and care of Christian hands." Exterior view of local hospital at Kikuyu. ❧ "This Lecture was prepared by Dr J.W. Arthur in October 1911 on his voyage to Mombasa. The set of slides is the gift to the Kikuyu Mission of the Young Peoples Meeting at the Burgh Hall, Hillhead, of which he was for many years a member." A green folder marked 'Kikuyu' and containing lecture notes and relevant photographs to accompany lantern slides.
