Photograph of an exterior view of Appleby Residence Hall at Claremont Men's College, ca.1920. A large tree shades the foreground from right while the long, two-story residential hall stands at center. Stairs lead to the raised first floor where flowers decorate the residences' balconies. Another staircase leads to the second floor where the balconies are fenced. "Appleby Residence Hall, one of 5 dormitories, houses 63 students in rooms, most single occupancy. All rooms open on balconies which run the full length of the building both upstairs and down. The 2-story building is shadd by live oaks." Photoprint reads: "Please return to Four College News Bureau, Pitzer 202, Claremont, California."
