Writer Hugh Walpole, writes to GBH, glad to finally receive her letter and hear news of the Hubbles. He and his companion/chauffeur Harold Cheevers have experienced bombing and went to the country before Christmas. He will soon have to return to London for broadcasting work, and does not want to go. Despite his nervousness, he believes the war is a great experience, and feels optimistic. He thinks about submarine's and America's assistance with shipping. He looks forward to seeing the Hubbles again, and sends greetings from Harold. With envelope, including "opened by examiner" label and note in the hand of GBH: "Note to Harold [Cheevers], Aug 12" [Walpole died June 1, 1941].
