Description
Issei male, born January 7, 1896, died in 1991. He came to America at age 18 and worked in Utah copper mines prior to his move to Sacramento. He worked at the John Davis farm for $1 a day in the 1920s. He and his family were evacuated in 1942 when he was 46 years old. They went to Fresno Assembly Center, then to both Jerome and Rohwer camps in Arkansas. When the Abes returned to Sacramento, Mr. Abe was the last Issei farmer to raise Tokay grapes in the area.
