Artist-muralist-architect-painter, David Legaspi III works on a mural of Old Venice Canals at the Ocean View Adult Day Health Care Center, at 1500 Main Street at Market. The mural is based on old photographs from Venice Beach, circa 1913; it incorporates early Venice structures as well as some distinct figures such as Abbot Kinney, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy, and Henry Ford, from a 1914 photograph, shown with a 1913 Ford automobile. Legaspi, who's well known for doing murals within the Santa Monica and Malibu school district, uses murals to "raise awareness of the importance of the arts while touching on educational and historical themes." Anna Moyseyev, who recognized the need for more senior services in Venice, purchased Oceanview Adult Day Health Care Center, the previous home of the Sushi Academy. She had it renovated and established programs providing health, therapeutic and social services to those at risk of being placed in a nursing home. Photograph dated February 7, 2003.
