Description
Portrait of James ('Jim') H. Canepa. Jim's dad, Frank Canepa, started the Mill Valley Market in 1929. Jim started working at the Mill Valley Market at age 8 and would become co-owner in 1956. Jim married Jean Taylor of Mill Valley and together they had three children: David, Doug, and Christine. Jim was very active in Mill Valley, becoming President of the Mill Valley Lions Club, President of the Board of Directors of the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce, President of the local Pop Warner, and was twice honored as Mill Valley's Citizen of the Year. In addition, he helped start the Wine & Gourmet Food Tasting in 1981, which became named after him after his death in 2007.
