Description
This early photograph shows the interior of the Mutual Savings Building and Loan, located at 149 W. First Street. Tellers stand behind wooden numbered windows featuring decorative iron grillwork. Two patrons visit windows in the right background. A large shiny spittoon sits in a prominent corner along the teller stations' wall. Decorative Art Nouveau-style stenciled motifs are painted on the room's main columns, and are also faintly visible on walls in the background. Milk glass pendulum lamps of the period hang from the ceiling. DATE NOTES: Circa 1930s. ORIG.
