Photograph article dated November 22, 1957 partially reads, "A crunching, speeding forest fire headed toward heavily populated San Gabriel Valley communities today. The wind-pushed flames had consumed 20,000 acres of what County Fire Chief Keith Klinger calls 'the most valuable watershed in the world.' Flames raced to within six miles north of Foothill boulevard and the communities of Duarte, Monrovia and Bradbury." Photograph caption reads, "Roof ripped off by high winds - Walter Brunner starts clean-up work in his hill-top home after violent winds carried roof away and scattered furniture about like sticks. Below home located at 7200 Verdugo Crest Rd., is entire community of Sunland. Family had evacuated home after windows had been blown out by early gusts of wind and no one was at home when roof was torn off."; See images #00137062 through #00137064 for all photos in this series.
