Description
A photo of general manager and artistic director Robert “Bob” Irvin outside the Eagle Theatre in Old Sacramento in approximately 1980. Irvin was active in local theatre both as a student actor at Sacramento State and a professional director. He began working with the reconstructed Eagle Theatre in 1975 with a production of “Little Women” and became the theatre’s manager in 1977, a position he held until becoming the manager and artistic director of the Nevada Theatre, though he continued to work with the Eagle for several years afterward. In addition to his work as an actor and director, Irvin taught theatre at American River College for 31 years and served as artistic director for the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival for 21. He died in 2016 and was survived by his longtime partner and husband Joe Hart.
