Description
Astonishing the city fathers, young "jitterbugs" are shown dancing on the polished marble floors of the Council chambers in City Hall. Carried away by their dancing, some of the couples are shown "cutting up rugs" while councilmen stare. The flash of pretty limbs fascinated some of the lawmakers. Finally the music stopped and the jitterbugs "came back to earth." The exhibition was just an invitation to the Council to attend a "jitterbug" contest sponsored by the American Legion in Gilmore Stadium. Photo dated: September 7, 1938.
