This is a promotional video for the Eco-O.K. Banana Project, recipient of the 1995 Peter Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation. Using interviews and voice over narration, the film offers an overview of Eco-O.K. and describes its mission to transform banana production so as to be more environmentally friendly. The organization’s code of standards includes prohibition of clearing rainforest for new plantations, planting trees along rivers to control erosion, keeping plantations at least two miles away from wildlife habitats, regulating the use of pesticides, encouraging the recycling of plastics, and providing proper safety equipment, health checkups, and improved housing to plantation workers.
