Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
A two-year game of hide-and-seek between a husband and his divorced wife ended in Domestic Relations Court on November 26, 1947, when Sumner C. Bryant, a non-practicing corporation attorney who had disappeared with his daughter Susan Claire, now 3, was arrested. Mr. Sumner had taken young Susan from her mother, Mrs. Sarah Bryant, on Dec. 1, 1945, and had "hid" the child in Chandler, Arizona, where friends of his were living at the time. The child was eventually returned safely to her mother, who had been given sole custody, and Mr. Bryant was released from jail soon after.
Photograph caption dated December 1, 1947 reads, "It wasn't the rain, because Sumner Bryant was in a courtroom when he covered up (above) in row with wife over child's custody."
