Description
General Benedicto Lucas García (left), Chief of Staff of the Guatemalan Army, rests his leg on a helicopter as he speaks to a member of the press, who is wearing a hat, at a military airport in Santa Cruz del Quiché. He is wearing sunglasses and holding an Orange Crush soda. Sitting behind them inside the helicopter is a soldier. He is holding a notebook and a blue pen. Lucas García was found responsible for crimes against humanity, aggravated sexual violence, and enforced disappearance by the Guatemalan court of high-risk crimes. On May 23, 2018, he was sentenced to 58 years of prison for these charges.
El general Benedicto Lucas García (izquierda), jefe del Estado Mayor del ejército guatemalteco yace recargado sobre un helicóptero mientras platica con un miembro de la prensa, el cual lleva puesto un sombrero, en un aeropuerto militar en Santa Cruz del Quiché. El lleva puesto un par de lentes de sol y sostiene una botella de refresco Crush de naranja. Detrás de ellos yace sentado un soldado dentro del helicóptero. El sostiene una pluma azul y una libreta. Lucas García fue encontrado responsable de crímenes de lesa humanidad, violencia sexual agravada y desaparición forzada por el Juzgado de Mayor Riesgo de Guatemala. El 23 de mayo de 2018, fue sentenciado a 58 años de prisión por estos cargos.
