This image was part of a California State Library photographic history project documenting the daily lives and historical, political, and cultural contributions of California's diverse communities. On June 12, 1999, Long Beach residents donated to the Long Beach Public Library 398 family and personal photographs as part of this ongoing statewide project. He is holding one of the signs, which reads, "Stop Gun Violence! Homicide is the Leading Cause of Death, Ages 15-24 in Orange County." He is standing on a lawn in a park-like setting. In the background, a parking area contains several parked cars. Behind the autos, a row of residences can be seen. Long Beach location is unspecified. DATE NOTES: Noted on image back. ORIG.
