Dr. Tebbetts' father, Charles Tebbetts, took charge of the Whittier Academy in 1898. The family moved from Pasadena to Whittier in 1900 when the Academy became Whittier College. He is also the grandson of John H. Painter. His family moved back to Indiana where he finished college. After graduating from medical school in 1916 he returned to Whittier to practice medicine for almost 50 years before retiring. Ralph and Robert Robbins moved to Whittier with their family in 1906. Their father, Fred Robbins, owned Robbins & Pelton Drug Store, later becoming Robbins Prescription Pharmacy. Robert became a pharmacist and joined his father's business. Ralph was a rancher and nurseryman in the Whittier area. They discuss their families, their connections with Whittier College, the Friends Church and various organizations.
