Photograph article dated April 25, 1961 partially reads, "A soft-spoken, Texas-born musician who played with some of the nation's top popular orchestras in the era of big bands, has turned Sepulveda into a music-minded community. The leader of the bands that are making Sepulveda sit up and take note is 49-year-old Claude Lakey. Lakey, 9810 Natick Ave., Sepulveda, is founder and leader of the 100-piece Sepulveda Youth Band, and of of [sic] the youth band's second-string unit, the 60-piece Claudehoppers. Lakey's background is well founded. He was a bandsman with the late Glenn Miller's orchestra, with the Gene Krupa band and Orin Tucker groups. Seven years ago he moved to Sepulveda and opened his C. and D. Music Co., Inc., at 8744 Sepulveda Blvd." Pictured with Claude Lakey are Stan Levine, 14, left, and Nick Bogden, 13.
