Photograph caption dated June 12, 1965 reads, "Dr. Ray Allen Billington, who was the commencement speaker at the San Fernando Valley State College ceremonies yesterday, delivers his talk to the more than 1,000 graduates and 6,000 guests." Dr. Billington is the Huntington Memorial Library historian.
