Description
The Great Republic was a sidewheel steambship that was once the largest passenger liner on the United States west coast. First built by the Pacific Mail Steamship Company for their new line between San Francisco and China, it was sold in 1878 to P. B. Cornwall for service along the U.S. Pacific coast. It was shipwrecked off the coast of Washington in 1879.
