Description
Photograph of a view of the old channel of 1857, ca.1950. The water is calm in the foreground, but ripples further back as it gets closer to the rocky banks which lie across the background. A line of tall, thin trees stands behind the rocks that line the water. A clearing in the small forest can be seen on the right. Photoprint reads "dredged for the river to reoccupy, instead of repeating its antics a year ago". The break in the trees shows where the river was being shunted into its 1857 channel.
