Description
Photograph caption dated October 23, 1966 reads, "Huge earth-making machine is dwarfed by excavation of site for Jack Kent Cooke's $14 million Forum at intersection of Prairie and Manchester Aves. in Inglewood. Site has been graded, and foundations of building will be well below ground level. Facility, in new-classical style modeled after ancient Forum in Rome, will be home stadium for Lakers of pro basketball. Kings of ice hockey and a variety of other shows, exhibitions, and so forth, will be ready by Jan. 1, 1968."
