In front of a grass-roofed house and some banana trees: The female missionaries Elisabeth Bachmann and Anna Magdalena Giersch with their three small children feed chickens. Elisabeth Bachmann (1872 - 1949), maiden name Künzel, married Traugott Bachmann (1865 - 1948) in 1895. She stayed in Mbozi from 1899 to 1915 and entered mission service in 1910. Her husband was a missionary of the Herrnhut Brüdergemeine in Rungwe from November 1892 to 1899, in Mbozi from June 1899 to 1911 and from 1913 to 1915. -- Ernst Otto Giersch (1878-1946 [1947]) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served from 1906 to 1908 in Mbozi (together with his wife Anna Magdalena, née Seiler) and returned home because of illness. From 1927 to 1929 he again served in Mbozi.
