Description
Personnel carriers park at Camp Stoneman in Pittsburg, California, and troops assemble for assignments. This photo is part of a series documenting Williams’ shipping out to Korea. The journey that started in Pittsburg, where a ferry would carried troops to San Francisco, continued on the USS General M. C. Meigs for the two-week voyage to Japan and then on to Korea. The negative sleeve is labeled (handwritten) "Shipment to FECOM, 1951," although the date is likely early January 1952. FECOM is the Far East Command headquartered in Japan.
