Dr. Alvin Marks, a psychologist in Sacramento, was a pilot and the president of a commuter airline based in Sacramento, Skymark Airlines. He made a record-breaking solo trip around the world in 1969 in his Cessna. Caption: STARTS WORLD FLIGHT.--Dr. Alvin Marks of Sacramento waves from the cockpit as he starts the first leg of his attempt to set an around the world speed record for light aircraft. He hopes to complete the 23,000 mile flight in 15 days. His first stop will be Wichita, Kansas.
