Title supplied by cataloger. Ingalls’ "List of Negatives" says: "George Harney, Chief. Interpreter and educated." Bell negative no. 76. A variant of this portrait at the Smithsonian has this information: George Harvey or Harney. Chief of confederated tribes, Siletz Reservation, Oregon. Negative by C. M. Bell, Jackson Catalog prior to 1877. (Negative 2604 A, National Anthropological Archives, Smithsonian Institution).
