Description
Three women in Paris fashions from 1832. The woman on the left wears a light blue ankle length dress with long, leg of mutton sleeves. Her bodice has gathered sections that cross over and have two bands just below the shoulder over the gathering. She wears a brown apron edged on all sides with cord. Leaf and acorn patterns decorate the pockets and the corners. Her dress has ornate white lace embroidered mitts or cuffs that extend down over her hands. Her collar is a high white lace ruff and there is a dark brown ribbon tied in a bow around her neck below the ruff. Her white underdress can be seen in the v of her bodice. Her hair is braided into several buns and a blue ribbon decorates her hair. A white shawl with pink floral patterns and a pink fringe is draped over her right arm. She sits on a long wooden bench and holds two small pink flowers. A young girl in a yellow dress is seated next to her. Her dress is calf length, yellow with leg of mutton sleeves and a short cape extending from the neck down over her shoulders. She has a white pleated stand up collar and a pink ribbon is tied in a bow around her neck. Below her skirt she is wearing pantalettes that are gathered at the ankle. She wears grey shoes. She holds a pink flower in her right hand, a blue ring hangs from her left arm, and her hair is curled into ringlets at the sides and braided into a bun. She looks up at the woman in the blue dress. The woman in the right wears a white dress with sheer leg of mutton sleeves. Her collar is formed of three layers. The bottom layer extends from her waistline to cover her bodice, and over her sleeves as epaulets. Each collar is edged with a green and red floral design. She wears a green plaid belt with a buckle. The bottom of her skirt is edged with a panel of white fabric with red and green floral designs. The rest of her skirt is plain white. She wears yellow gloves and black shoes, and carries a handkerchief in her right hand. She wears a pale yellow bonnet with a darker yellow ribbon adorning the outside of the bonnet and is tied in a bow under her chin. She looks at the other two ladies.
