Excavation for foundation of Hale Solar Laboratory, Pasadena. Three unidentified men stand in the area; one in the pit and two above it, seen on the far right, next to a truck. Within the excavated area are several shaped areas surrounded by deeper channels. A number of large tubes are scattered throughout the construction area. A wooden fence surrounds the excavated pit. Trees are seen in the background.
