Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph caption dated March 13, 1983 reads, "Every year, $1 billion worth of produce is distributed through the Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Terminal, 760 S. Central Ave., so it seemed only fitting to use it as the launching point yesterday for a campaign to keep the Mediterranean fruit fly from ever infesting the Southland's orchards again. The slogan is "Don't Bug Me." Although the medfly was eradicated locally last spring, the county wants to keep the insect from making a comeback on fruit brought into the area, said spokesman. The Foote, Cone & Belding-Honig agency donated its services to design slogans and artwork. And 375 outdoor display board spaces were donated by Foster & Kleiser, Gannett and independent Outdoor companies. Only $25,000 in state medfly "seed money" will be used to print materials, a spokesman said."
