This collection includes approximately 40,000 photographs by commercial photographer Ralph Morris, who worked in the Los Angeles area from 1939-1981. His advertising and industrial clients included department stores, restaurants, the automobile and petroleum industries as well as business executives. Also included is the Luckhaus Studio collection of architecture, fashion, the movie industry, sports and street scenes, images which Morris obtained in 1939. Five members of the La Can~ada Chamber of Commerce (renamed La Can~ada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce and Community Association) pose together for a promotional photograph. Each women is seen holding a building implement, four hammers and one saw, and are standing on or around a large ladder, indicating that they are promoting the construction of an unidentified building. The organization was founded fifty years earlier in 1912. Photo dated: August, 1962.; La Can~ada Flintridge is situated in the Crescenta Valley, located between the San Gabriel Mountains and Angeles National Forest. Prior to its incorporation in 1976, La Can~ada and Flintridge were two distinct communities. Flintridge was named after Republican Senator and developer Frank Putnam Flint.
