Photograph caption dated February 26, 1965 reads, "Three Valley debutantes were among 31 young women who bowed at the United States' first Japanese-American Debutante Ball held this past weekend at the Ambassador Hotel. From left are Karen Keiko Diozaki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doizaki, Tarzana; Shigemi Eve Matsumoto, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moriichi Matsumoto of Reseda, and Yasuko Kurantani, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. George Suzuki of Northridge. Miss Kuratani's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Yoshiro Kuratani, reside in Oaska [sic], Japan."
