Photograph caption dated August 17, 1940 reads, "Wearing flashy, expensive clothes and his hair sleeked down, Benny 'Bugs' Siegel, called by New York officials one of the 'six most dangerous gangsters in the United States,' is shown in jail in Los Angeles. he was arrested in his super-swank Holmby Hills mansion on a charge of helping rub out Harry Schachter, former Lepke mobster, in Hollywood last November 22."
