Photograph of a portrait of Miss Essie L. Elliott, [s.d.]. A strong woman with sharp eyes and curly short hair looks towards the left of the foreground. She wears a long-sleeved dress with an embellished collar around her neck, and a set of large earrings. She was the vice-chairman of the A.W.V.S. Los Angeles County Unit, board member of the California Home Economies Association, Vice-President of the National Safety Council of greater Los Angeles, a board member of the women's division of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, and a director on the National Board of the same organization. She taught home economics at Hollywood High, and was editor of recipes for Sunkist for some years. She died in Berkeley on April 24, 1970.
