Black and white lantern slide showing women and children sitting and standing outside a brick building with a corrugated iron roof. One man sits on the porch of the building. People appear to be forming a queue to enter the building, which could mean that they are waiting for a service, such as medicine or to sell or procure food supplies. Reed baskets and wooden shoulder poles for carrying them can be seen laid outside the building, along with bowls and bedrolls. There is a sign next to the door of the building, although its content cannot be seen. The buildings have European style awnings over their doorways. This slide comes from a set on the activities of the King’s African Rifles battalions in Nyasaland. It was originally held by the Church of Scotland, and generated by J.W MacKay.
