Description
View of ivy-covered front of Claremont Inn, Pomona College. Featured in Pomona College Bulletin, July, 1965. Text reads: "The Inn as it Still is. Actuarial laws are catching up with the Claremont Inn, born 1907. It still graces the corner of Third and College, but the days of the lovely old hotel are now apparently numbered. On July 1, the residential portion of the Inn was permanently sealed off but the dining facilities are still in operation. The Board of Trustees has decided to refurbish and redecorate the dining room area of the building and to make additions and alterations in the cottages to the south of the Inn, so that a limited number of guests may be accommodated. Ultimately, it is sad to report, the Inn will have to be torn down. The Buildings and Grounds Committee of the Board of Trustees is meeting with community leaders on future planning as to whether the Inn will be replaced or not."
