This film documents the peripheral area immediately surrounding downtown Huntington Beach and its beachfront, including streets and buildings, alleyways and iconic landscape components such as palm trees. Much of these features arose shortly after the city's founding in 1909 with subsequent growth reflecting the oil booms and other events that led to the growth of the city in the intervening years. Almost immediately after this film was made, a determined urban renewal effort began. Today, much of this historic core has been demolished or irrevocably altered.
