Description
Photographic portrait of the office staff of the Western Union Telegraph Company, 1891. There are eighteen people in the picture, seven women and eleven men, and they are arranged in three rows: two rows of seven, and the top one of four. All the men are wearing jackets and ties, with flowers pinned to their right lapels, while all the women are wearing long dresses and flowers, although the flowers are not as uniformly placed on the women as they are on the men. All of the people appear to be fairly young, probably not older than forty. The telegraph company was located at the corner of Main Street and Market Street.
