Dr. Aliza A. Lifshitz discusses her book, “Mamá Sana, Bebé Sano : Una Guia en Espanol e Inglés Sobre el Embarazo, la Atención Prenatal, el Nacimiento y el Cuidado del Recién Nacido = Healthy Mother, Healthy Baby : a Spanish/English Guide to Pregnancy, Prenatal Care, Childbirth, and Early Infant Care.” She begins by explaining that not enough Spanish-speaking women in the country are getting the proper prenatal care, so she decided to write a bilingual guide to pregnancy. She talks about the issues of teenage pregnancies, and how they can be prevented. Lifshitz describes how important it is for the father to read this book as well. She talks about ways to prevent problems during pregnancy such as avoiding raw meat, staying away from cats, and having blood sugar checked regularly. She ends the interview by giving tips on ways women can talk to their doctors.
