Photograph article dated April 26, 1957 partially reads, "Jay Akerman, 11th grade student, is the first president of the North Hollywood High School Chapter of the Future Engineers of America. John Francis is the faculty advisor, and Engr. D. M. May is engineering sponsor of this new club. It has started off with 70 enthusiastic members interested in becoming the country's future engineers or scientists."
