Angyline Angelyne has become somewhat of an icon in Hollywood and Los Angeles. Her billboards started showing up in the early to mid-1980s. It was said that she would purchase her own billboard space as a form of self-advertisement, but now billboard companies donate space to her as a way to draw the public's attention to a newly constructed billboard. These billboards have gained more fame than she, and several have appeared in movies such as: Escape from L.A., Volcano, Get Shorty, and The Day After, to name a few.
