Description
Photograph of a captured German tank and howitzer in the Place de la Concorde in Paris, ca.1918. The massive howitzer is in the foreground at left and is aimed slightly to the left. It has a large barrel, tall metal wheels, and a metal blast shield. The tank is slightly behind the gun at right. It is a large, boxy vehicle with riveted metal panels covering its exterior. A German cross is painted on the side, and several large hatches can be seen. The war machines are surrounded by a wooden fence, and several people are looking at the weapons. The double wing of a large airplane is visible in the distance at right.
