Photograph caption dated May 14, 1964 reads, "Young royalty - Candy Barrett, 4 and Mark Crosier, also 4, will reign Sunday as king and queen of the 1964 Placerita Festival to be held in Placerita Park, near Newhall, to celebrate California's first gold discovery. Candy is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Owen Dedmon, Saugus, and Mark is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerre H. Crosier, Newhall. Gold was discovered at the park site in 1842."
