Description
Photograph of exterior of Dicalite Company, Palos Verdes Hills, ca.1930. At center, the large exterior of the company building can be seen. At the base of the building, several rectangular structures showing several windows and an entryway can be seen. Near the entryways to these structures, several large sacks can be seen. Above the tall rectangular structure at center, two large pipes and a funnel are visible. The pipes connect to various pieces of machinery seen in greater detail to the immediate left of the structures. Behind the metallic equipment, a single smokestack is seen in the background. To the left of the smokestack, a metallic ramp structure appears to connect to the nearby hill. In the extreme background on the left, utility poles and can be seen behind a lush hillside. In the extreme foreground, a line of flowers stretches across the front of the image from left to right. Furthermore, several branches and leaves at the right of the image obscure parts of the factory from view.
