Photograph caption dated September 22, 1947 reads, "Charles W. Davidson, left, is shown presenting gavel to new Commander of American Legion Birmingham hospital Post 728, Dr. Thomas P. E. Rothchild, right, while Dr. Ernest Bors, center, merit award winner, looks on." Dr. Ernest Bors, who is chief of the hospital's paraplegia division, was presented with an award of merit for services rendered to the patients under his care.
