Photograph caption dated August 27, 1954 reads, "Five young Chinese, who were forced to serve with the Communist army in Korea, but fled and surrendered to United Nations Forces, are introduced to the City Council today by Dr. Yi-send Kiang (at microphone), Chinese consul general here. The freedom-loving youths, now on tour of western countries, are (left to right) Chao King-chung, 26; Kao Cheng-chung, 24; Chang Tsun-hsien, 38; Chien Yu-chi, 26, and Hu An-kang, 25."
