Description
This is a photograph of Fr. Eckstein with four Maryknoll Sisters standing in a field conversing.
Born in Wisconsin, Fr. Eckstein came to Maryknoll in 1920 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1925. He was assigned to the Kaying mission in 1926 where he worked with Bishop Francis X. Ford. He served as Pro-Vicar of the Vicariate Apostolic of Kaying and as rector of the Seminary there. In 1940 he was appointed Society Superior of Kaying. His career included twenty-three years of service to the Society as a member of the Development department.
