Description
"Steinkapelle in der Landschaft Mamba, Inneres, Ostseite" ("Stone chapel in the landscape Mamba, inside, east side"). A white wall and part of the roof of a chapel. An inscription on the wall: "Ambuyen ikunda lyo Avu alelukunda nalyo, tsandu linan, in kundu lulago vana va Ruva 1Yob. 3.1" The text is probably from the Bible. The inscription might be in Kichagga, a Bantu language spoken by the Chagga in Tanzania.-- The picture was probably taken by Johannes Schanz (1876-1963). He worked as a missionary of the Leipzig Mission in Moshi and Mamba from 1901 to 1910.
